Shavano Park, incorporated in 1956, bills itself as “City Living with Country Charm.” It’s a small city of about 3,500 people surrounded by San Antonio, with Loop 1604 along its north edge. Which water rules apply depends on your neighborhood:

• City of Shavano Park water serves the original neighborhoods, Old Shavano Park and Shavano Estates, from the city’s own Edwards Aquifer wells. The city sets its own drought response, so check with the city at (210) 493-3478 for the current schedule.
• SAWS serves Shavano Creek, Bentley Manor, Willow Wood, Pond Hill, Huntington and the commercial areas. SAWS has been in Stage 3 since September 21, 2026: once a week on your assigned day, 5–10 a.m. and 9 p.m.–midnight, with drip on Monday and Friday.

In July 2026 the city adopted a new water acquisition fee to buy additional Edwards Aquifer rights, charged on top of tiered water rates. Customers in the higher usage tiers pay more, and on most lots irrigation is what pushes usage up. A leak-free system with efficient nozzles and a smart controller can keep you in a lower tier.

Shavano Park sits at the southeastern edge of the Hill Country, mostly flat to gently rolling, with steeper ground near Loop 1604 and a drop-off along the east side. Older neighborhoods have established oaks, and the city keeps oak wilt prevention guidance. We route trenches carefully near oak roots and use drip for tree and bed areas.
