Seguin is the Guadalupe County seat, a pecan town of nearly 30,000 people on the Guadalupe River, and a short drive east from our New Braunfels office. Its yards are nothing like the rocky Hill Country lots west of us, so they need a different approach. Call (830) 980-8899 for sprinkler repair, new systems, drainage and backflow testing.

Much of Seguin sits on deep silty clay loam laid down by the Guadalupe and its tributaries, the same ground that grows the area’s pecan orchards. It holds water well, which is good news for lawns, but it also means:

• Overwatering is easy. Clay soils stay wet, so many Seguin systems run too long. We set run times by zone and soil, not by default.
• Drainage problems are common. Flat lots and slow-draining clay leave standing water after storms. French drains, downspout lines and regrading are a big part of our Seguin work.
• Big trees mean big roots. Pecans and elms are hard on old lines, so we route new pipe around root zones.

Seguin homes are on one of three main providers, and each has its own rules:

• City of Seguin Utilities uses Guadalupe River water under rights dating to 1914, and TCEQ recognizes it as a Superior Public Water System. The city has its own Drought Contingency Plan, so check the city water department for the current stage.
• Green Valley SUD serves parts of Seguin. GVSUD is in Stage 2: sprinklers once a week on your assigned day, midnight–10 a.m. and 8 p.m.–midnight, with no weekend sprinkler use.
• Springs Hill WSC served much of the growing area north of I-10. In 2022 the city agreed to take over about 9,000 acres of that service area, so some customers are moving to city water.

The City of Seguin requires every backflow prevention assembly to be tested when it’s installed, repaired or relocated, and recommends testing every year. Testers file results online through the city’s Vepo system. We’re licensed backflow testers (BPAT BP0018846) and handle the filing for you.

• Sprinkler repair: heads, leaks, valves, wiring and controllers.
• New systems zoned for clay soil, with a 7-year parts and labor warranty on new installs.
• Drainage: French drains, downspout lines and grading.
• Drip irrigation for beds and trees.
• Smart controllers and rain/freeze sensors.
