Olmos Park was developed in the 1920s by H.C. Thorman as an exclusive suburb of large estates on oak-lined streets, on land that was once Camp John Wise, a World War I balloon training camp. Olmos Park gets its water from SAWS, so SAWS rules apply. SAWS returned to Stage 3 on September 21, 2026:

Olmos Park often has some of the highest outdoor water use per person in Bexar County. Under Stage 3, a large estate system can push a household into the surcharge quickly. That makes efficiency the most valuable upgrade here.

Some Olmos Park homes also irrigate from private wells, often tapping the shallower Austin Chalk or Buda Limestone beneath the city. A system that switches between a well and SAWS needs the right backflow protection and controls so well water can never reach the public supply. We repair and set up well-and-SAWS systems so each source is used correctly.
