Sprinkler Repair and Irrigation in Helotes
Helotes sits where Helotes Creek leaves the Hill Country, on Bandera Road about 20 miles northwest of downtown San Antonio. It grew from about 1,500 residents in 1990 to more than 9,000 in 2020, and new subdivisions keep spreading into the canyon. All American Irrigation Systems repairs and installs sprinkler systems throughout Helotes. Call (210) 826-6474.
Watering Rules in Helotes
Helotes is served by SAWS, so SAWS rules apply. SAWS returned to Stage 3 on September 21, 2026:
Overspray and runoff are banned year-round, and every in-ground system needs a working rain sensor.
Hill Country Slopes and Creek Valleys
Helotes lots range from the creek valley to steep hillsides, and the land sits upstream of the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone. On slopes, water applied too fast runs straight off. We design separate zones for slopes, use pressure-regulated heads and slow rotary nozzles, and program cycle-and-soak runs so water soaks into thin, rocky soil instead of washing down the street.
Oaks and City Tree Rules
Oak wilt is a real concern in Helotes. The city arborist issues permits for tree trimming and removal, and trimming is restricted to limit oak wilt spread. When we trench near oaks, we plan routes to protect roots and avoid wounding trees, and we use drip for tree rings so you water the roots, not the trunk.
SAWS Programs We Help With
SAWS offers a free irrigation consultation (210-704-SAVE) that can come with a personalized rebate offer, plus seasonal landscape coupons for replacing lawn and its irrigation with approved plants. We do the repairs, retrofits and conversions those programs call for.
