Sprinkler Service in Castroville
Castroville, “The Little Alsace of Texas,” was founded in 1844 by Henri Castro and Alsatian settlers on the Medina River, about 25 miles west of San Antonio. Its historic district, older homes and mature pecan trees make it one of the most distinctive towns we serve. All American Irrigation Systems repairs and installs sprinkler systems throughout Castroville. Call (210) 826-6474.
Castroville Has Its Own Water Rules
The City of Castroville supplies its own water from the Edwards Aquifer and sets its own stages from aquifer levels, not SAWS’s. The city’s website says Castroville is in Stage 2:
- Sprinklers, irrigation systems and soaker hoses run only on your designated day, 7–11 a.m. or 7–11 p.m.
- Hand watering, drip and gray water are still allowed.
- The goal is a 30% reduction in water use.
Homes just outside town may be on a rural water supply corporation, such as Yancey WSC, which sets its own stages. Check your bill to see which provider you have, and contact Castroville Public Works at (830) 931-4090 for city details.
River Terrace Soil
The Castroville soil series is named for this area: deep, well-drained clay loam on nearly level terraces along the Medina River, high in calcium carbonate. It holds water better than the thin soils north of the Balcones Escarpment, so many systems here run too long. We set run times by zone and soil, and keep spray off sidewalks and streets.
Older Homes and Big Trees
Castroville’s historic neighborhoods have mature pecans and older yards, often with systems added piece by piece. We repair what’s worth keeping, replace failing valves and mixed heads, route new lines around tree roots, and add drip for beds and trees.
