Sprinkler and Irrigation Service Around Canyon Lake
Canyon Lake is about 20 miles up the road from our New Braunfels office, and it is one of the most demanding places in our service area to water a yard. Homes around the lake, in Startzville and Sattler, and out in the Hill Country subdivisions sit on rock, on slopes, and on a water supply that is often under restrictions. Call (830) 980-8899 for repairs, new systems, drip conversions and backflow testing.
Watering Rules for Canyon Lake Homes
Most Canyon Lake homes get their water from Texas Water Company (formerly Canyon Lake Water Service Co. and SJWTX), which serves both the north and south sides of the lake. TWC draws on Canyon Lake itself and its Trinity Aquifer wells, not the Edwards Aquifer, so SAWS and Edwards Aquifer stages don’t set your schedule.
As of mid-October 2026, TWC lists Comal County at Stage 3. Under its schedule:
- Sprinklers run once every other week on the day assigned by the last digit of your address.
- Watering is allowed 7–10 a.m. or 7–10 p.m.
- TWC lists drip, soaker hoses and hand watering under the same schedule.
- TWC does not grant variances for new sod or new landscaping in Stages 2–4, and Stage 4 bans outdoor watering.
TWC sets stages on supply planning and demand, not lake level alone, so restrictions can stay in place even when the lake is full. Check TWC’s drought page before you plant, and if your home is on a private well, let us know so we can plan run times around what your well can produce.
What Rocky Lake Lots Do to a Sprinkler System
Shallow soil and slopes
Much of the Canyon Lake area has only 10 to 20 inches of stony clay over limestone, and many lots are terraced or steep. Water sheets off before it soaks in, and lines can’t always go as deep as they would in town. We lay out zones by slope, use pressure-regulated heads and rotary nozzles that apply water slowly, and set controllers to cycle and soak so the water stays in the root zone.
Every drop counts on an every-other-week schedule
With one watering day every two weeks, a broken head or a leaking valve can waste a large share of your allowance before you notice. We check for leaks, mismatched nozzles and overspray onto rock and pavement, and we convert beds and foundation plantings to drip where it makes sense.
Live oaks and deer
Big live oaks shade a lot of lake lots and send roots through irrigation lines. Deer are everywhere. We route lines around root zones and suggest deer-resistant, low-water plantings when you’re reworking beds.
